The health and future of the Fox River is expected to soon become a focus of renewed public interest and debate. Driving this debate will be a new study by the US Army Corps of Engineers detailing the environmental benefits and other likely consequences of retaining, removing or modifying Fox’s dams. There are 15 such dams from the Chain of Lakes to the Illinois River.
